Project 2,996: Remembering Robert Cordice (Sept 11, 2001)
Sep 11th
This is my entry for Project 2, 996. A site that gathers together the stories of those lost on Sept 11, 2001.
Some days will always be etched in your mind. September 11, 2001 is one of those days for most of us, and it will probably stay burned into our memories as long as we’re on this earth. I was in between jobs at the time, and I was living at home. I had stayed up all night and was about to get a few hours of sleep. I decided to turn on the morning shows to see what was happening…the Today show had live views from a fire at the World Trade Center in NYC. A small plane (maybe the size of a Cessna) had inadvertently gone off course and hit the side of the massive tower. No word on fatalities or a cause.
I’m trans fixed by billowing smoke and what seems to be a very large fire for such a small plane deep inside the building. All of a sudden a second plane smashes into the tower at what has to be a very high rate speed, and this was definitely an airliner. The cameraman is so caught off guard that the camera shakes and loses the scene for a second, only to pan back into place, showing a large fireball shooting out of the side of the building. These were not accidents, these were deliberate…turning to Fox News, that was the first thought most of them had- this was terrorism.
I felt sick to my stomach. I was in a slight daze…already very tired from being up all night and now in a state of semi-shock. I quickly woke my mother up and told her to hurry into the living room to turn on the TV, I had no idea what was going on but something wasn’t right. We watched for hours. We watched the buildings fall. We saw people running through the streets fleeing what would turn out to be a cloud of smoke, debris, and we though dare not say it at the time- death.
I remember vividly how horrified I was, how that day changed my life. I can’t even begin to imagine those stuck in the buildings that made it to safety. Worse yet, I can’t ever forget the fact that thousands never made it to safety, and what was merely a day of shock from a far for me, it was a living nightmare for some and some would see that nightmare end it all for them that day.
2, 996 innocent lives taken. 2, 996 people who went to work, boarded a plane, or were merely walking down the street. All of them murdered because of a senseless ideology that relishes death and destruction. Normal lives, average lives, extraordinary lives, brave lives, there were all sorts of lives taken that day.

One of those taken was Robert Cordice. Robert was a 28 year old firefighter disappeared on Sept 11. He was part of Squad 1 of the FDNY. He had been there only two weeks. He had recently transferred from Engine Company 152 in Staten Island…he wanted to be part of the elite Squad 1 in Brooklyn to be in the thick of the action. Robert was a thrill seeker. Before becoming a firefighter, he spent 3 years with the police department, stationed at the 13th precint in Manhattan.
Robert was also a ladies man. He loved the ladies, and they loved him. He had made the cut for the 2002 Fire Department Hunks Calendar. This is the picture that was eventually used in the calendar, the calendars were used to raise money for charity.

Robert Cordice lived his life constantly being selfless and putting others before himself. “It is no surprise that he was in the building when it collapsed,” said friend and fellow firefighter John Deliso. “He was the type of guy who wasn’t worried about himself.”
Cordice had a bright future ahead of him, if not for the tragedy. His mother, Carolina Cordice spoke about her son, “All his friends loved him very much. He was a very funny, very positive, very honest and loving son.”
Robert Cordice craved action throughout his life. He decided to become an officer and protect, and he decided to change that routine to become a NYC firefighter. He put in for a transfer to get into even more action. He got the big action he wanted. Sadly that action meant the risk of injury or death. It was that action he craved that took Robert from this earth. He gave his life to do what little part he could in this world to protect others around him. As others fled from the carnage, Robert ran toward it. As is the life of those brave men and women around us, who selflessly give of themselves day in and day out. Sometimes they make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. No telling how many lives were saved that day thanks to the bravery of men and women like Robert Cordice. He had a promising future. It’s a shame we’ll never know what would have ultimate been made of it. Today, I honor him.
Pres Obama Does Women in muslim World Disservice with Speech
Jun 4th
Obama and other liberal “progressives” (anything goes morality is “progressive” apparently) made a fool of himself today in Cairo with his sometimes ridiculous and sometimes downright offensive speech there. Here is a section I take umbrage with:
“The U.S. government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab, and to punish those who would deny it.”
Yes, we know that women in islam are second class citizens. The koran itself states that women are lesser than men. Thank goodness they have the “right” to be second class and allow men to dominate them like this.
“I reject the view of some in the West that a woman who chooses to cover her hair is somehow less equal, but I do believe that a woman who is denied an education is denied equality. And it is no coincidence that countries where women are well-educated are far more likely to be prosperous.”
Huh? Why is it okay to support some arbitrary misogynist rule to cover your head and face because it’s a religious idea, but it’s not okay to support the religious idea of denying women education? Why is one somehow okay but not the other? This is the why liberals are nancies. They refuse to take a firm ideological stand on anything…for fear of not having every single person and every single thing be “equal,” no matter how little right something has of ever being “equal” to logical and reasonable traditions.
“Now let me be clear: issues of women’s equality are by no means simply an issue for Islam. In Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia, we have seen Muslim-majority countries elect a woman to lead. Meanwhile, the struggle for women’s equality continues in many aspects of American life, and in countries around the world.”
Does it? Women in the US ARE equal. You just finished a campaign that included a woman in the number 2 spot of the dem nomination! Enough of this bullshit that women are still fighting for equality in the US, it’s just not true, and to compare the US to muslim-majority nations where women are raped, beaten, and stoned to death for merely not having a penis, is absurd and offensive.
“Our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons, and our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity – men and women – to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal, and I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles. But it should be their choice. That is why the United States will partner with any Muslim-majority country to support expanded literacy for girls, and to help young women pursue employment through micro-financing that helps people live their dreams.”
Pipe dream. There’s no evidence that most muslim-majority nations hold anything but extreme contempt for their mothers and daughters, so let’s stop with the idiotic platitudes about how islam is so great and so wonderful, and by-golly it’s a great place for women to succeed.
Obama and most other progressives are wimps. You’ll never change the horrible situation for most women in the muslim world unless you man up, grow a pair, and start being honest. Not all religions are equal, and not all religious demands are equal. Just as not all nations are equal. Don’t you dare compare this land of freedom to any muslim-dominated nation, Mr. President, and don’t dare try to fool anyone into thinking islam is anything but a big bag of suck for women of all ages. It’s stupid, it’s pointless, and it’s just the pattern of liberal nonsense that never makes any true progress. The rights of women is an issue that needs to see progress in the muslim world. Unfortunately, when you follow a religion started by a mass murdering madman, that progress is sort of hard to come by. Obama would be wise to stand up and say so.
UPDATE: Pundette over at HotAir.com notices the absurd nature of Obama’s comments as well.
Obama Win? It’s All About Race
Nov 4th
Obama attended a racist anti-american church based on “black liberation theology” with a pastor who screamed “God damn America!” and claimed that the Sept 11 attacks were our fault.
Obama started his political career in the living room of two terrorists who bombed and killed innocent Americans.
No white candidate on earth would get even 10% of the vote if he were a member of a “white liberation theology” church and spent time in the living room of Eric Rudolph or Timothy McVeigh.
Those are two facts you cannot deny no matter how hard you try.
It’s all about race, folks. It’s all about race. Most radical candidate in the history of the nation? You’ve got him America.
Some other notes…
Catholics are voting 50% for Obama in PA (despite the fact that he openly supported infanticide in the IL state senate and declared his very first act as president would be to lift ALL restrictions from ALL types of abortions)…after all the madness this cycle, this country deserves what it gets. We can only pray that Americans turn their brains back on soon…the fact that terrorism scored under 10% as a major issue is proof that voters have already turned the brains off big time…when the next attack comes (it’s only a question of ‘when’), it’ll be another shock to the system just as 9.11 was. Fox News is reporting only 22% of the country labels themselves liberal…yet we’re ready to elect the most liberal candidate in history?!
Final lesson? Voters are mind-boggling stupid, a feeling I’ve already expressed, but these types of thing only solidify that thought.
Abortion on demand- you’ve got it
Gay marriage- you’ve got it
Infanticide with no restrictions on any type of abortion- you’ve got it
Taking from those making over $42, 000 a year and giving to the lower class- you’ve got it
We are S C R E W E D.
UPDATE: National Review’s Byron York has some stats on race:
The Role of Race: It Was Important [Byron York]
The exit polls suggest that race was a factor in a lot of voters’ decisions — and that, on balance, it worked to Barack Obama’s advantage. In Ohio, for example, six percent of voters said that race was the most important factor in their decision. Among them, Obama won 59-40. Another 13 percent said race was an important factor in their vote, and Obama won among them, 52-46. So nearly one in five voters said race was an important part of their decision, and more of them voted for Obama than McCain.
Beyond that, eight percent said race was a “minor factor” in their decision — and they went for McCain, 56-44. Finally, 71 percent said race played no role at all in their decision — and Obama won among them, 54-45.
Even MORE on race in this election. This makes me sick. Like I said before, this election will push race-relations back decades on many levels. I guess the idea that we look not at a person’s skin tone, but rather their character is out the door for good…good job, voters!
More on the Role of Race [Byron York]
The race factor numbers are more striking in the Virginia exit polls. Six percent said race was the most important factor in their decision, and they went for Obama, 60 to 38. Twelve percent said race was an important factor in their decision, and they went for Obama, 64-36. Nine percent said race was a “minor factor” in their decision, and Obama won them 52-47. So Obama led among the 27 percent who said race was a factor in their decision. Finally, 72 percent said that race played no role in their decision, and McCain won among them, 50-49.
Obama lead 27 percent with those who said race was a factor in their decision. The fact that we even have voters using race as a factor in their vote is disgusting enough. The stats that show the Obama supporters are the ones concentrating on race isn’t at all shocking. My guess is the stats will show a large majority of black Americans voted for Obama based on race. No one can deny that is highly troubling.
MORE STATS:
In Virginia. Black voters-
OBAMA 92%
MCCAIN 8%
Of course, if the number was reversed, the pundits would be screaming racism was to blame all day long…
MORE STATS ON RACE:
Obama wins 97% of black vote.
Nancy Soderberg Is a Bald Faced Liar
Oct 23rd
Oh dear. Nancy Soderberg is an embarassment. She’s a complete and total embarassment. She appeared tonight on the O’Reilly Factor to discuss the Colin Powell endorsement of Barack Obama. Now, Bill was too nice to Powell in his talking points- he said Powell endorsed Obama because the Republicans weren’t all that nice to him over the last few years and Obama embraced him. It’s oh-so-clear why Powell endorsed Obama. It’s because he’s black. Not three months ago, Powell was on record as saying that a black president would be electrifying for him. Even saying that is disturbing, as I don’t think we need leaders based on the tone of their skin. If I said that a white president would electrify me, I’d be tagged a racist, but the double standard is, as always, there with Powell’s remarks. Obama is so far from any Republican values that a Republican endorsing him is committing career suicide. If Obama loses, Powell is a goner…he loses all respect from the right, and he’s already hated by the left. The blacks who play the race card along with him will love adore him tho.
Anyhow. Soderberg discussed Powell and said that the hateful attacks coming from the McCain camp are basically beyond the pale, and that’s why Obama got the Powell endorsement.
Now, as Bill pointed out, McCain has bent over backwards to condemn attacks against Obama’s character, and he’s even refused to use his close ties to his racist anti-American pastor, Jeremiah Wright. Obama, on the other hand, took part in the kos convention last year…you’ll recall the Daily Kos is a hate site run by one of the most disgusting people in the country, who once said that the murdered contract workers in Iraq deserved what they got. So, to claim McCain hate is absurd.
On the issue of Ayers, like Obama himself, Soderberg told a blatant lie and proclaimed there was no association between Obama and Ayers at all. Thankfully, O’Reilly called her on this bald-faced lie and told her that if she was going to tell outright lies, they couldn’t even have a conversation, because such lies are an insult to his viewers. I couldn’t agree more. A grown woman who is supposed to have some brain cells in her head telling complete lies that can easily be torn to shreds is a disgusting site, and frankly I think we’re all tired of it. As O’Reilly pointed out, the two men served on two separate boards together, Obama held an event at Ayers’ home, and Obama wrote a blurb for Ayers’ book, so to claim no association was a lie that he wouldn’t stand for.
I’ll say it again- Nancy Soderberg is a liar and an embarassment. If these are the types of surrogates Obama has, no wonder he can’t tell the truth himself. You surround yourself with people who will lie for you, you probably find it easier to lie yourself. This nonsense is getting old, and it’s time for the campaign and the surrogates to stop lying to the American people. Hacks like Soderberg need to get their acts together, because I think we’re all pretty tired of this crap.
Ann Coulter’s Brilliant Analysis on Obama/Ayers
Oct 23rd
Great stuff.
Coulter makes some fantastic points. Sad to see the way this country is going down the tubes. Terrorists flocking to academia. Obama’s ridiculous excuses regarding Ayers. This is just craziness. The mainstream media in this country is, unfortunately, doing their best to sway an entire election (again) and trying their damndest to destroy the country itself.
Is Obama Incapable of Telling the Truth Regarding Ayers?
Oct 22nd
I’m starting to think that Barack Obama is just a dishonest person. His lies during the campaign thus far have went beyond what we normally see in campaigns (it’s unfortunate that we have to see them at all in any campaign). His bogus claims of living in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers has been told so many times, I’m wondering if Obama himself is starting to believe the lie.
The Obama camp has gone to attacking a McCain robocall as a “vicious false smear” regarding Obama and Ayers? In this video, what we hear from the robocall, purportedly from the McCain campaign is “hello, I’m calling because you need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, whose organization bombed the US Capitol, the Pentagon…”
The video from the Obama campaign, as you can see, spells out “FALSE.”
Problem is- that claim is not at all false. It’s 100% true, and with all the facts as we know them, the only way to deny the association is to simply deny reality. Obama did, indeed, work closely with Bill Ayers who was, in fact, a domestic terrorist who was part of a group that bombed the US Capitol and the pentagon. There’s just no denying these facts. Obama worked on 2 separate board with Ayers, he had a campaign even in Ayers’ home, and he wrote the now infamous blurb for Ayers’ book praising the man and his work.
Just as Obama claimed he was clueless to the fact that his preacher (who married him and his wife and baptised his two daughters, and also served as a part of his campaign for president) was an anti-American racist for 20 years (Obama sat in the pews with his eyes and ears covered, we can assume), he also claims he barely knew Ayers. And don’t forget the tired (and lame) like that Ayers did something despicable when poor innocent Barack was only 8 years old. Because, you know that it would be okay to hang out with bin laden in 20 years, and we can argue he did something horrible 20 years ago when so and so was only 8 years old! The claims from the Obama camp are far beyond insane. They’re out of the world crazy…so much so that if anyone besides the black coming of jesus had such associations and came up with such bogus excuses, he’d be tossed from his senate seat, forget any shot at the presidency.
Hell, when you have a scant 143 days of experience and nothing to go on outside of riding the coattails of the mainstream media and praying for white liberal guilt, what other game plan can you possibly come up with?
It takes a shameful person to claim that McCain has played dirty politics, when this campaign has been one of the tamest in recent memory. McCain has gone out of his way to praise Obama as being a good family man who loves his country. Obama and his surrogates, on the other hand, have played the race card this entire campaign, claiming that the GOP and McCain himself would attack Obama for his skin tone, something that McCain never did, nor did he ever get even close to attacking Obama because of his skin tone, his name, or the way he looks.
To attack these factual associations as smears is absurd. Will Obama ever fess up to the fact that he’s hardly the post-partisan he claims to be and admit that he has had a close relationship with Ayers that spans several years? Or will he still claim to be above the dirty politics he himself plays by attacking these calls as “vicious smears”? Mr. Obama, the truth is there for all to see…why is it you keep lying?
Obama Sr. Spokesman, Robert Gibbs Lies Again About Ayers
Oct 20th
Now, I know some of the idiots out there drone on about how the issue of Obama’s close ties to a radical terrorist aren’t important…but, let’s face it, those people are brain dead morons who wouldn’t know important if it bit them in the ass. Of course, the fact that the man has no qualms about being associated with radicals is a legitimate issue, and it brings to mind so many questions I can’t even begin to ask them all.
Well, Obama’s senior spokesman, Robert Gibbs, is fibbing again. This is the same hack who spent 10 mins refusing to answer a simple question from Time’s Mark Halperin* on when Obama knew of Ayers terrorist past. Gibbs was embarassing himself by proclaiming he answered the question when, in fact, he never answered anything. Hint, when campaigns can’t answer questions on a particular subject even after given 10 mins to do so, it’s a safe bet that the candidate is full of shit. Barack Obama is, of course, full of shit when he claims Ayers is just some guy he once served on a board with who lived in his neighborhood. In the last debate, Obama told a bald-faced lied by claiming his political coming out party was not thrown at the home of Bill Ayers and his terrorist wife Bernadine Dohrn. 4 witnesses, there at the party, confirm Ayers set up the party with Obama to start his foray into politics.
* Unfortunately, the Halperin/Gibbs’s video has been removed from YouTube, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
So, Gibbs lied to Halperin, changed his story about twelve times, then refuse to actually answer the question like any sensible honest human being would. Now, he’s lying again, claiming that Obama never did a blurd for Ayers’ book. Well, in fact, Obama did, indeed, did a blurb for the book and here it is:

Obama has been consistently dishonest on his relationship with the terrorist, Bill Ayers. He has been proven a liar once again. He’s just some guy who lived in my neighborhood, huh? Yet, you got an advance copy of Ayers’ book, and you actually wrote a blurb for the book jacket praising the book and the man who bombed in an attempt to maim and kill innocent Americans. That alone disqualifies you for any office let alone the highest office in the land, and Obama worshippers who claim this is a distraction are, frankly, bat shit crazy.

To Claim Bush a Failure Confuses the Meaning of “Failure”
Oct 17th
With all the reviews of Oliver Stone’s film, W (which looks like an overly long SNL skit), I keep seeing critics complain that President Bush is a failure, and that the low favorability ratings sort of prove that he’s a failure.
Two things to note in that regard- people are sometimes clueless creatures who can’t make up their minds from one minute to another. One day they love you, the next day they hate you for seemingly no good reason. Let’s face it, most people are self-involved, don’t care to have anything but a cursory glance at the facts, and would rather be watching episodes of Lost or Desperate Housewives than studying politics, history, or the world around them.
To go along with point 1, the fact is to proclaim the man a failure is to totally confuse the meaning of the word itself. After an unprecedented attack on American soil, we went after the terrorist organization who harbored and propped up the thugs responsible. In the process, we freed millions weighed down by the chains of tyranny. A noble goal, no doubt.
After that, it was decided that another murderous despot named Saddam Hussein would be held responsible for 11 years of thumbing his nose at the international community. And this is what most people tend to pass on by when discussing the war that has made Bush, among Americans answering these polls, unpopular to such an extent. To argue that Hussein was just a bad guy misses the point. Hussein invaded a neighboring country, raped and pillaged, and basically pissed off the community of nations. I sometimes wonder if people just forgot that the whole gulf war took place at all.
Now, those who have actually followed history for the past decade+ know that Hussein was given 17 chances via UN security council resolutions to comply with the demands made to him after the end of the gulf war. To say that 17 ignored UN resolutions is a lot is an overstatement like no other. Over the course of 12 years, a brutal man responsible for the deaths of over 1, 000, 000 people (innocents, most of them) thumbed his nose at the world and basically said, ’to hell with you, I’ll do anything I want.’ 1441, the resolution that demanded a full accounting of all weapons programs, records of all destroyed munitions, and complete compliance with international inspectors, was the 17th resolution regarding Hussein’s behavior after the 1991 war in Kuwait and Iraq.
Clearly, the man was never going to step down from his post. He was never going to be talked into complying with weapons inspections through diplomacy. 12 years is a long time to deal with a man who could threaten his neighbors and any country in reach of chemical and biological weapons.
Unfortunately, many Americans have bought into the liberal lie that Bush lied and people died. Of course, bipartisan commissions, history, and basic common sense have proven that no one lied, and that every security apparatus in the world agreed- Hussein posed a threat at some level, he had never fully complied with the dozen and a half resolutions, he still had banned munitions that could be used to threaten the free nations of the world, and he was never going to fully comply with inspectors on the ground in any significant manner.
Bush’s decision to oust a brutal despot who killed 1, 000, 000 people was a noble one. People, of course, become weary, and they do so quite easily. But weariness of war doesn’t make the initial decision to oust the man known ’round the world as the butcher a bad one. It also doesn’t make the man or the mission he spearheaded a failure. To decry the decision to oust the thug, one has to offer a better alternative. The status quo would in no way cut it, and removing all restrictions on the regime would have been a complete failure of moral authority. Free nations cannot allow brutal thugs to threaten other free nations, sitting idly by doing nothing about the situation. Sitting on their hands, just waiting for the situation to somehow get better on its own, tho we know in our hearts no such thing will ever happen.
At the end of the day, it comes down to choices. All of life comes down to decisions. Allow evil to thrive and people to suffer at the hands of such evil, or remove the evil for good, not allowing it to threaten, maim, or destroy ever again. A world with Saddam Hussein, the butcher of Baghdad is a better place, and we have men like George Bush to thank for removing him from the scene. Decisions like that aren’t failures, they’re acts of courage. Unpopular decisions have to be made, and sometimes that makes for unpopular men. Unpopularity, though not such a wonderful thing, doesn’t equal failure.
Illegal Aliens Destroying the Country with Drug Crimes?
Oct 9th
Someone over at HotAir.com noted that if you look at the DEA’s most wanted fugitives site, no matter which region of the country you click on, a large majority of the fugitives are hispanic. The theory is- illegal aliens dominate drug crimes that destroy families, people, lives, property, and more.
Very scary stuff.
I haven’t looked deep into that site, the crimes, what have you, but it does make you wonder.
Good idea to stop those who demand we not enforce our border and the laws associated with it. It’s a good idea to call out those people who attack one side of the aisle for having the nerve to do the unthinkable- demand that we enforce our borders and our laws.
A lot of people want to put their own selfish interests first and the country last. Those are the people that destroy countries from within.
Obama on Terrorist William Ayers
Sep 10th
In the third part of Bill O’Reilly’s interview with Barack Obama, here’s what the senator said of his friend, the terrorist, William Ayers:
Now on this Ayers thing . . . this guy did something despicable 40 years ago. . . . Here’s a guy who does something despicable when I’m eight years old . . . he’s not part of my campaign, he’s not an advisor of mine. He’s somebody who worked on education issues in Chicago that I know
Question, would Obama serve on boards along side bin laden if he was working on education issues in the same city as Obama? Is bin laden too extreme an example of a terrorist to work with, and Obama would draw a line? Why doesn’t Ayers get the same treatment? Have you associated with a known terrorist at any point in your life? If given the opportunity, would you? What if the terrorist had repented and changed his ways? What if the terrorist wasn’t currently commiting acts of terrorism but he remained openly unrepentant to this day?
This speaks volumes of Barack Obama’s character, when he’s so casual about serving on boards with known unrepentant terrorists. If a terrorist invited you to his home to hold a campaign event for you, would you attend? That’s precisely what Obama did when Ayers held a casual campaign event at his home for Obama in 1995.
Ayers is just a guy you know, Senator? Are you sure you want to stick to that line of argument? He did bad things when you were but has openly said just the past few years that he wishes he had done more bombings, yet you’ve no problem associating with him? I’m sorry Mr. senator, but I’d never in a million years co-chair an organization with a known terrorist. That’s where you and I (and nearly every other American) differ on matters of decency.
