Discussion of topics concerning the Christian religion, Jesus Christ, various theological issues and theological implications of various fields of thought, and more.
UPDATES AT BOTTOM
I stayed up late Wednesday night to watch most of the hearings with Monica Goodling. The whole ordeal is absurd, of course, as the president and attorney general have every right to fire the political appointee attorneys for political reasons. You heard nonstop claims from the dems on the committee that politics shouldn’t have come into question, but they all know that’s precisely what should’ve come into question, as the US attorneys, as so many have pointed out, serve at the leisure of the president and can be fired for whatever political reason the president wants.
It comes down to a Democratic witch hunt, hell bent on doing anything to destroy President Bush and waste taxpayers time in the process. They get paid by us to waste time. It’s a wonderful gig for those who can get it!
The most disgusting questions probably came from two Democrats on the committe- Maxine Waters from California and Steven Cohen of Tennessee. The questioning they did of Monica Goodling was wildly inappropriate and downright offensive. The attacks on Goodling’s Christianity by Cohen was particular disturbing and vile.
Cohen attacked Goodling’s Christianity and made an attack on Regent University because it’s a Christian school. He asked a bizarre question regarding her faith and the mission statement of Regent University (founded by Pat Robertson). I will report more on this later.
Maxie Waters kept interrupting Goodling in an attempt to distort her position at the RNC. She did “opposition research”- which Goodling tried to explain came down mainly to just using WestLaw searches and Lexis Nexis to get background information, which is actually fairly tame. Waters (the lunatic who claims that the CIA introduced crack cocaine into black neighborhoods to kill of the black population in the US) kept using the ominous-sounding phrase “opposition research skills” to indict Goodling’s character. Waters interrupted many times, refusing to allow Goodling to correct her constant distortions of what she actually did with the Republican National Committee.
Waters also went on a rant about Karl Rove that just defied all logic. A witchunt of the highest order, no doubt. I will report more on this later as well- hopefully I can find a transcript of video of Waters and Cohen questioning Goodling.
I should note that CNN’s Jeffery Toobin also made some offensive comments attacking Goodling and Regent University as well. He appeared on one of the CNN shows yesterday and attacked Goodling as being a “fifth rate attorney” who attended a “seventh rate university” and had no business in her position at the DOJ. No bias at all in CNN’s reporting. None at all. Uh huh…
Regent On Trial
More to come…
Christopher Hitchens is an idiot. He hates Falwell and he doesn’t care if he hurts Falwell’s family? He wants his comments to hurt his family? What a scumbag. This guy is evil personified if you ask me.
He appeared on Hannity and Colmes on Fox News and made the absurd comment “the supposed Jesus of Nazareth.” Only lunatics deny the existence of the historical figure known as Jesus of Nazareth.
Watch the video…this guy needs to be exposed as the nutjob he is. Heck- even Colmes thought Hitchens was a jackass.
I love it tho- you ever notice the most notable atheists are great commercials for religion? They’re all so hate-filled, angry, sad, and foolish. So, I guess I thank Hitchens for that much…
This stuff is actually sort of a joke…ten candidates on a stage is absurd. I was sort of torn on this- why allow only the top candidates? I feel the media is partly responsible for the top spots as it is…they push a few candidates all the time, no wonder they have the most support in current polls. All should get a chance to give their opinions and share their views. But, when you see them all together- you see this just doesn’t work.
A few thoughts- Giuliani…don’t much like him. The fact that he’s on his third marriage is upsetting to me personally. The fact that he’s pro-abortion is another aspect of his views I dislike a lot. I don’t think I can vote for a supporter of abortion. I also find his evasion of questions annoying. McCain and Romney are guilty of this as well. Sadly- the most open and honest candidates are those on the bottom of the polls. I’m sick of seeing a question asked and the top 3 guys dancing around with their answers.
Ron Paul- this guy is out of his mind. He doesn’t want us to lead the world basically…that’s the feeling I got from him. He wants an America that doesn’t intervene in international fights? Too bad our actions doing just that in WWII lead us to the spot as super power! I’d never support an anti-war “conservative.”
McCain- he just looks like a zombie to me. He’s constantly got this weird stare on his face- looks as if he’s staring at one spot or something. It’s a bit creepy. That and I forgot he voted against Bush’s tax cuts twice.
Tancredo has good ideas on immigration.
Personally- I think the best bet would be a Fred Thompson candidacy.
The top 3- McCain, Giuliani, and Romney are stepping over each other whining they wall want 30 seconds. Ugh…
I’m not very impressed at all. Out of this group- I’d vote for tough talking Tancredo.
UPDATE: I should mention I find Giuliani’s adoption blathering stupid when asked about abortion. He refuses to be clear and straight on his support for abortion, instead going on a tangent about how adoptions in NYC rose when he was mayor. I see that in the May 3 debate he claimed a 70% increase- I think tonight he said it was a 130% increase. It turns out, he’s full of it either way. FactCheck.Org has more info.
Note to Rudy- when asked about your support of killing soon-to-be-born babies…don’t go on and on about fictional adoption rates! ‘I support mothers killing babies, but hey- I’ll claim adoptions were up when I was mayor!’ Insulting.
The left in this country is filled with hatred. Liberals, who claim to be compassionate people who love the poor, the downtrodden, the sick, the elderly, and on and on…they’re full of hate.
Proof? Check DailyKos for the sick and twisted comments attacking Jerry Falwell, who died today. These people are out of their minds insane.
More proof? Air America radio host, Rachel Maddox, when talking about Falwell said ‘he’s dead, dead, dead as a doornail, dead.’ She also said ‘welcome to day 1 post-Falwell.’ Why make these statements? Why gleeful over someones death? Do you people have no soul?
I’m sure Maddox is currently making even worse statements- I had to turn it off, because it was just sickening. If you think homosexuality is a sin and immoral- you’re evil in Maddox’s eyes. Makes absolutely no sense, as that means most Americans would be considered evil!
The left is showing its true colors today…just take a quick look around many liberal blogs, and you’ll see their hatred on full display.
UPDATE: Amanda Marcotte, the hate-filled woman who ever-clueless John Edwards hired for his blog, has a post titled “The gates of hell swing open and Satan welcomes his beloved son”
In the comments, someone makes the good point that if Jimmy Carter died, she doesn’t think conservatives would act like this, because conservatives have more class (historically true)…Marcotte’s response?
May 15th, 2007 at 2:15 pm
Nice thing about being a non-believer, Tib, is it springs you from having to be idiotically literal.
That, of course, won’t happen; conservatives simply have more class.
Tell that to the over 600,000 Iraqis we’ve managed to kill. But with class.
Shocker? Only to fools like John Edwards. I do love the bogus 600, 000 number that has been refuted time and time again. Liberals, I guess, love to parrot bogus numbers. That and the fact that she’s implying US soldiers murdered these people somehow…no mention of the 1million+ people Saddam was responsible for killing…I guess it doesn’t matter when a brutal dictator kills people. Better let the people suffer under that brutal dictator. Finally- her comments makes little sense as an attack on conservatives, considering most democrats ALSO voted in support of the war that she claims has killed “600, 000″ people.
PDATE: Why did CNN have the hateful Christopher Hitchens on to attack Falwell on the night the poor guy died?
Media Research Centers covers Hitchen’s idiotic rants about Falwell on Anderson Cooper’s show.
If there’s one thing that’s quite obvious about Hitchens- he is one of the most miserable people on this planet. I wonder if he’s married and if his wife has ever tried to take her life. I say that only half kidding- can you imagine being around someone that is so angry and so filled with hate all day long? Heck- you need only look at the picture of him from the show to see he’s completely miserable and hates everyone and everything. Just because you think you’re a cosmic accident with no purpose but to waste oxygen for your DNA, that’s no reason to look so angry all the time.
The terrorist plot to attack Fort Dix- all of the suspects arrested. Get this. They’re all muslims who daily praise mohammed- a mass murdering warrior.
is ANYONE, and I mean ANYONE shocked to hear this? Did anyone hear the news of a terror plot and actually wonder what religion these guys were a part of?
Does anyone not see the very disturbing pattern? Does anyone think that maybe when you follow a religion created by a mass murderer, this is the logical outcome? Does anyone want to deny that simple fact and come up with an explanation on how any person who praises a mass murderer could, in any way, claim to be peaceful or part of a religion of peace?
PS How many of these idiots are here illegally?
I didn’t hear about the flying imams filing a lawsuit against fellow airline passengers who reported the imams suspicious behavior to the crew, which lead to the imams being denied access to their flight.
These fools filed a lawsuit last week against anonymous John Doe’s who reported their odd onboard behavior to the flight crew. The anonymous John Doe’s will be named later according to this report.
I guess these muslims want to cause even more tension between muslims, in general, and non-muslim Americans. I’d wager that most Americans generally distrust muslims and generally dislike islam as a religion. Let’s state one simple reason I will never embrace and will always fight against islam- the religion was founded by a mass murdering warrior who killed innocent people in the name of the religion he created. If that isn’t reason alone to dislike and fight against a religion- nothing is. You can discuss the koran and it’s anti-female bias, it’s anti-muslim threats, etc…but for me it all comes down to the founder of the religion being a raving madman who slaughtered innocent people. If a man who killed just one person created a religion today and people followed him- you’d call these people insane, and you’d shun them all day long. If you’re a man who killed hundreds of innocent people in the name of a series of dreams you had where you claimed God talked to you- you’re called a great prophet, and you’re followers are labeled good people. If you attack their religion- you’re labeled a bigot.
I often chucken when I hear people talk about “moderate” muslims. How can you ever fit the definition of the word “moderate” if while praying, you praise a mass murderer? Answer is- you can’t. It’s impossible. Daily praise for Charles Manson would get you locked up. Daily praise for mohammed is far worse (yet somehow, daily praise for mohammed is tolerated in this country)…mohammed actually murdered people. Manson never touched a hair on the head of those his clan murdered. He merely brainwashed them into following his orders to kill.
Back to the flying imams. If the founder of their religion isn’t reason enough to dislike, fear, and shun them…is this sort of thing enough? Luckily- members in the House see that giving these yahoos the ability to sue the flying public is a dangerous thing for America. It is, as a public interest firm supporting the idea, calls it, “legal terrorism.” It’s unamerican and the threat of a high powered and high priced attorney leaves us all in danger of refusing to report suspicious behavior out of the fear we could be sued.
To muslims (who DO follow a mass murderer)- I feel sorry for them. I pray that they realize this glaring example of insanity and leave the religion as soon as possible. The world could only become a better place with less hatred. Praising a mass murderer is, clearly, the epitome of hatred. Sadly most people are too scared in this politically correct day and age to state this obvious fact.
Drudge links to a video of a “heckler” who attended an event with Mitt Romney…the guy said that Mitt did not know the Lord, because he’s a Mormon.
There were boos. People think this sort of attack is uncalled for and just plain wrong.
Silliness. Of course he doesn’t know the Lord. He lives his life based on a book written long after the Biblical Canon was put together…long after the texts from the prophets and apostles were written. Created out of thin air by a man who was 1. racist, 2. insane, and 3. proven wrong time and time again. Smith did not receive wisdom from God. Jesus did not visit the native Americans, and Jesus wasn’t married. Jesus doesn’t live on a star far into the galaxy, and the same goes for the rest of Mormon doctrine.
Only Mormons go to heaven according to their “holy” book. I guess that sits fine with Christians in this country? Saying a Mormon is a Christian is as laughable as saying a Jehovah’s Witness is a Christian- depite their vast denial of Christian scripture. Now, I’d say JW’s are worse- I’d label them a cult…I probably wouldn’t do the same for LDS. LDS doesn’t try to run every aspect of your life and demand obedience to the church the way JW’s do, but still- neither sect is truly Christian.
I’d agree with the so-called “heckler”- a Mormon is, indeed, a Christian “pretender.”
I’m not going into a long post about what is wrong with the religious sect, or how it differs from true Christianity. A quick google search will give you all the information you need to know on the subject. There are even books about the sect and the differences between it and Christianity as it has existed for nearly 2000 years…you can make up your own mind. If you agree and think that the sect isn’t truly Christian- then why is the subject suddenly off limits? Why would the press be making an issue of it at all if it wasn’t truly a concern with many Americans?
Why it IS off-limits to so many people is beyond me. I think this is clearly acceptable dialogue. You can’t just believe any whacky old thing and be accepted- that idea is absurd. What’s next? Embracing scientology and scientologists? Maybe Wicca after that? Some religious ideas are whacky, and some are out of this world. The book of Mormon might be both…but it sure ain’t true Christianity, and I see no problem with someone bringing up this fact with a presidential candidate.
UPDATE: I take it back, I DO have the video of this…
I don’t have the video of this, but Jane Flemming (director of the Young Democrats of America) appeared on the O’Reilly Factor and discussed the Edwards campaign and the two fool bloggers he hired who had made vile anti-Christian comments in the past couple of years.
When pressed if she would fire these two girls, if she had been in charge, she said no. She would let them say what they wanted to say- free speech…and she would not fire them. He then pressed her further and asked her if they made anti-gay comments or anti-black comments if she would fire them, and shocker of shockers- Jane Flemming, ms young Democrat, said- yes, she would fire them immediately.
Lesson? Flemming is fine and dandy with anti-Christian bigots, but she has no tolerance for those who are anti-gay or anti-black. Seems to be a common theme among Democrats. Maybe Americans usually see the Democrats as the party against religion because that’s precisely what they are. Maybe?
It’s always nice to see Flemming make a complete ass of herself on TV tho, so that’s a plus. I just hope that not all young democrats are this ignorant. I do love how Jane refers to herself in the third person when posting to the blog linked in the first paragraph.
Maybe I should try that. Josh Bozeman exposes idiot named Jane. Josh discusses democrat who is fine with anti-christian bigotry, but says an immediate no to anything that is considered anti-gay. Josh says that being against Christianity is a rare thing in the US. Josh also says that being against homosexuality is fairly common in the US. Josh says this means that Jane is a member of the fringe in this country, and she might even be part of the lunatic fringe from seeing her often on TV making a fool of herself as often as possible.
It seems that Yale students will be CELEBRATING Roe V Wade, by performing mock abortions using a papaya.
Here’s part of the story:
On Thursday, the Yale Medical Students for Choice will host workshop on manual vacuum aspiration for medical students, using a papaya as a uterine model. Manual vacuum aspiration is a surgical abortion method that uses a syringe to remove the fetus from a woman’s uterus. Merritt Evans MED ’09 said she thought it was important to have the workshop because the procedure can be used for a variety of different purposes — including miscarriage management and the treatment of a failed medical abortion or ectopic pregnancy — and is inconsistently taught in medical school.
While the workshop is targeted towards medical students, undergraduates are also invited to attend.
“The reason I wanted to include other people is that it is such a simple procedure, but the media attention around it … makes this an emotionally traumatic and a complicated thing,” Evans said. “It’s just to be like, ‘Here is what actually happens, here is what the medical procedure is like, this is what an aborted yolk sac looks like.’ It looks like a piece of cotton.” [emphasis mine]
1. Medical Students for Choice?
“Choice” is a misnomer…choice means the choice to KILL an unborn baby. EVERYONE has ALWAYS had the “choice” to have their child. That’s the normal flow of things. When someone says choice they really mean the choice to have an abortion, as that’s the only choice up for debate. Choosing to have a child is not up for debate. Never has been. Pro-”choice” is pro-abortion, plain and simple fact that too many people lie about.
It scares me that medical students, that must swear an oath to protect life as doctors, will form groups in order to slaughter tens of millions of babies in this country every year. If this isn’t backwards as it gets, nothing is!
2. Notice how the idiot quoted here says the MEDIA (which is actually mostly pro-abortion) has somehow made this “simple” procedure into such a horrific thing. Well- killing an unborn child because you decided to take your pants off and you just don’t feel like having a baby around IS a big thing! The media doesn’t make this an emotionally traumatic event, you complete fool, it IS an emotionally traumatic event!!! How such ignorance can flow from the mouth of someone admitted to an ivy league school is just simply amazing.
If I take a gun with a small caliber bullet and shoot someone in the back of the head, it will make a small hole and there might be very little blood. If I demonstrated it, and I used a silencer- it would seem like no big deal really. Except for the dead person lying on the floor!!! Somehow when you go to Yale, they suck your brain out and things are “simple” events and no big deal merely because you can show someone how it’s done and it looks so easy. It’s sooo easssssy to kill babies. So, it must be okay. It musn’t be “emotionally traumatic”- that’s the silly media playing tricks on all you hicks!
This country is doomed, folks…this madness is proof of that.
Maybe the UK isn’t going totally to hell socially…
British Airways, in a move that brings the word “idiotic” to mind, banned their employees from wearing crosses to work (heaven forbid, that evil cross!!)…they have now changed their tune and will allow the practice after church of england reps said they would boycott, British MPs spoke out against the airline, and others said they wouldn’t use the airline because of the situation.
I guess you know you’ve made a stupid decision when you’re about to lose millions of dollars over said decision. It’s all about the money in the end…
