Any Bar that Has Life On a Stick Can’t be All Bad

Saturday night, I went to Blush- this upscale, cosmpolitan, ‘you’re too cool to be here’ bar on the riverfront…It’s connected to a new luxury hotel with lavish suites that have flat screen tv’s in bathrooms complete with shower sprayers that surround you, rain shower heads, that sort of thing.

Anyhow- I’m with a buddy…I came from a thing at work, so I was wearing a suit (I had removed the pink tie) and decided to unbutton the top two buttons- so, I’m basically wearing grayish dress pants, a white button up shirt and a black coat. I feel like an idiot in this place, even though it was near 2 AM, and there were maybe 15 people there. It wasn’t too loud (unlike the previous bar we went to- I couldn’t hear but maybe 5% of all the conversation that took place- which made me feel OUT of place in general.) No one’s fault, of course, but still- it wasn’t the most desireable situation.

So…this place has these big deep couches, very long, red (I think?), and they’re very long with lots of cushions (leather material, I believe.) Tables close by…outside this area are chairs facing each other for couples…weird girls dancing all slutty-like. Big flat screens up high- 2 are playing some weird static image with a moving background of I have no idea what the heck it was…1 was playing what looked to be a documentary on China (Weird, I know), the one behind the bar has ESPN…and there’s one in the corner that’s playing, get this- Life On a Stick.

I’m amazed…wondering how on earth this is playing.

Tonight, it hit me- HDNET. They must have started airing this.

And they have. HDNet has a great lineup of cancelled series. Half of their lineup is a who’s who of my favorite short-lived shows, including Queens Supreme, Hack, Odyssey 5, Robbery Homicide Division, Haunted, and a few others…

The point? Fancy bars don’t excite me…seeing episode of Life On a Stick in fancy bars does excite me. I guess that makes me boring. I’m okay with that…

Feasting On Asphalt- Evansville, Indiana (Pictures)

I posted about this before…Feasting On Asphalt was a 4 part series on Food Network with Alton Brown. He travelled cross-country on a motorcycle, feasting on various “road food” items. He stopped off in Evansville (they filmed in April of this year). I live in Evansville, and have since 2000…I grew up in Boonville, Indiana which is about 20 mins away from Evansville.

Anyhow- here are screenshots from the show and the pictures I took of the Hilltop Inn where Alton stopped by to eat burgoo and a brain sandwich (I’ve never had either, and I’d probably NEVER eat a brain sandwich.)

I added these pictures to the Gallery section of the website.

Here are the screenshots from the show.

Does This Mean I’m Pregnant?

Sonic's cream slushes

Since yesterday afternoon, for no apparent reason, I’ve been craving a strawberry cream slush from Sonic. I wonder if this means I’m pregnant.

Those things are heaven in a big foam cup.

Funny- I think for lunch to take to work…I might go to McDonald’s and just get 2 yogurt parfaits- they have strawberry pieces in them. They’re really good. I miss those salad shakers- I used to get one with italian dressing, shake it up, and eat it. It was so easy, no mess, not much fuss, and it was cheap. Unfortunately, they got rid of them and now have premium salads that costs around 5 bucks each. Sigh…Okay, NOW I’m off to sleep for a couple more hours…
