Insanity: Woman Leaves Baby in Hot Car for 8 Hours, No Criminal Charges

This is downright insane. An idiotic* woman (Brenda Nesselroad-Slaby) faces absolutely no charges for leaving her 2 year old daughter in her car for 8 hours while she went to work for the day.
Apparently (and I will have to read more info. to see if this is true) the woman returned to her car over 3 times during the day to retrieve donuts from the vehicle, and at one point the security camera video shows her actually moving the car to a different parking spot. Most of the stories I found are somewhat vague as to the exact timeline of events for the day, but one thing is certain- only a complete moron or someone who is guilty of a crime forgets about their own baby roasting in a car on a day with the temperature over 100 degrees (to forget about your baby in 70 degree weather is crazy itself.)
The prosecutor in the Ohio county where this took place said that he will not file any charges against the woman, and regarding the woman’s other child, a 5 year old, he said- “I have no reason to believe that she won’t take care of this child.”
I have to agree with others who have pointed out the clear fact of gender bias here. I have little doubt that if this had been a man, he would have been charged. If the reports are correct, you don’t get anymore negligent than this.
Mind boggling.
*forgetting you have a child and you left that child in a car that is probably roasting at around 115 degrees for 8 hours IS the definition of “idiotic”
Let’s Be Fair to Miss ‘Teen USA’ South Carolina

Miss South Carolina from the Miss Teen USA pageant botched a question big time the other night. When asked about what she thought and what could be done about recent stats that show 1/5th of American students can’t point to the US on a world map, Miss SC well…she rambled on about nothing basically. She started talking about education in South Africa and twice mentioned “the Iraq” and some other things you can watch on YouTube here.
Poor girl didn’t have any idea what she was trying to say, that much is fairly obvious.
Let me first say, I’m not fans of these pageants to begin with. They’re silly and downright pitiful. A bunch of mostly half-witted girls who happen to be considered attrative get out there and flaunt their bodies a lot, wasting time answering pointless questions and making people think they’re as wonderful as can be.
But, honestly- would most of us have done any better on national TV knowing millions were watching us?
The question itself was pretty silly to begin with. “Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can’t locate the United States on a world map. Why do you think this is?”
Well, the simple answer is- 1/5th of Americans are stupid. But, you can’t really say that in this setting now, can you? She had to try to quickly think of a positive way to say “because they’re idiots”, and when she couldn’t find the right words to do so immediately, she probably got lost in her rambling to the point that there was no way of turning back.
She sounded foolish, she came off as a dumb blonde, but in the end most of us would never have the balls to answer “what is your full name” on national TV without probably flubbing a few words and sounding a teeny tiny bit silly after it was said and done.
Let’s not attack the poor girl when few of us would ever step on stage, let alone do it in front of a packed audience in-house and millions more on TV. It is highly disturbing that so many people are that stupid not to be able to point out the US on a map. Personally, I suggest everyone pick up a cheap globe or world map you can put on a wall- it’s good to keep yourself sharp when pointing to various areas of the planet, locating not on the US but other major world players as well.
Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air

I saw this restaurant, Fast Eddie’s Bon-Air on FEASTING ON ASPHALT…need to make a trip out there. It’s not that far away (around 4 hours, I think). They only have 7 items on their menu, but it’s all very cheap (it’s a roadhouse, and they want people to buy booze- I don’t drink, so cheap food works for me). Also- it looked really good too. The steak kabobs and the half pound burgers. Mmm.

ABC News’ Nonsensical Reporting on Bush’s VFW Speech and Iraq

ABC News is a joke.
First off, I saw this story from HOT AIR this afternoon. ABC News’
website has the misleading headline “Iraq Like Vietnam… Bush’s New
Talking Point as 14 Ameircans Die”.
This wasn’t what Bush said at all. Speaking at the national
convention of the VFW, Bush said that leaving Vietnam was a mistake
that caused the deaths of millions, and lead to horrors that
created new vocabulary like “boat people” and “killing fields.”
Retreat in Iraq would lead to the same sort of thing. So, ABC News
shows it’s obvious bias with a completely misleading headline,
and why on earth mention an accidental copter crash in Iraq
as support for this phony headline?
ABC News covers the story as well with the text “Vietnam and Iraq”
on the screen. They mention how Bush talked to the VFW, and they
aired his actual points to the audience.
The first thing they did after showing a snippet of Bush’s speech?
Well, they of course said that “historians” countered his points
after they heard the speech. Who are these supposed “historians”?
Well, they had exactly ONE historian on, who said that Bush’s point
was (I’m paraphrasing) silly…what is Bush suggesting, that we
should have stayed in Vietnam forever? Invaded North Vietnam?
These comments are followed by Joe Biden attacking Bush’s plan,
complaining that unless we change course immediately, we’re all
doomed as a nation. Nonsense, of couse, and reports show the
surge is working, so a change of course wouldn’t make any sense,
especially now.
Putting two and two together- I notice the lone historian attacking
Bush is fairly anti-Bush to begin with. The historian, Robert Dallek,
actually wrote a piece in the Washington Post basically outlining a case for
Impeachment, but saying that it would never happen, and that Bush
should resign like Nixon did.
So, Bush speaks- ABC News posts false headlines on their site
to attack the president…then, on their news cast, they show
their bias again by touting a list of historians attacking Bush’s
analogy, but it turns out they only have one historian who is
already a Bush-hater? Why do they even pretend and call it
“ABC News” when it’s pure propaganda?
NBC Sports to Ruin Football by Adding Keith Olbermann

NBC Sports is adding one of the most divisive men in America to their Sunday night football pre-game show. The network added Keith Olbermann (uber-liberal and Bush hater) to the show preceding their Sunday night match.
Why on earth any network would add this man to a sports how is beyond me. You can be a fan of Olby if you want, but no one can deny he’s a very radical guy here. I won’t give NBC sports a second of my time with this nonsense…
Anne Rice: Confused Christian, “Pro-Life”, Pro-Abortion, Hillary Supporter

Anne Rice has endorsed Hillary Clinton and the Democratic party on her official site.
She seems to be highly confused. She makes clear that she’s a Christian and spends most of her posting talking about how she is anti-abortion and that she’s horrified by abortion. Yet, she also says that maybe we shouldn’t get rid of abortion (maybe it’s not so bad?) She then endorses a candidate who most wouldn’t see as a strong Christian, and worse a woman who supports the so-called “right” for women to abort their babies anytime they want at nearly any time during the pregnancy.
She also notes that the Democratic party better fits the values of the Gospels. I guess in Rice’s world the Gospels call for gay marriage, late term abortions, and the destruction of parents’ rights over their children. I wonder which Gospels she’s reading and where I can pick up a copy? Sort of sad really since she recently made a big to-do about her conversion to Christianity and her new goal of only writing books that she sees as glorifying the Lord.
The CosmicConservative sums it up nicely: “I’m pro-life, but it’s OK with me if you want to kill your babies.”
Superbad (Movie Review)

Went to see SUPERBAD Saturday afternoon with my brother. Not a bad movie…sort of disappointing in that from the trailers, I thought it’d be absolutely hilarious and the humor would be a bit more highbrow the masturbation jokes.
Written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, it’s supposed to be a true life story of their teen years…sort of. At least that’s what they kinda sorta said on an interview I saw Friday night about the film. The two main characters are named Seth and Evan, so it fits…
Unfortunately, there’s too much idiotic and over the top vulgar humor. I would have probably thought this movie was hilarious in 8th grade, but I’m older and wiser, and my humor needs to be more grown up as well. I thought of OLD SCHOOL when I watched this movie- it wasn’t overly vulgar, and it was hilarious…this movie just tried too hard in some points.
Michael Cera (George Michael from the brilliant Fox series, Arrested Development) played Evan, and he was quite likeable. Jonah Hill (from another very funny movie, ACCEPTED) played Seth, and he wasn’t all that likeable. In fact, he would probably have been funnier had his character not been such an idiot you couldn’t possibly care about throughout most of the film. With Cera- his character wasn’t too vulgar, and that’s good, because you just have a hard time seeing this kid play vulgar like this. He looks too nice and wholesome. Hill’s character, on the other hand, was over-the-top vulgar and that made much of it all very unfunny. Pretending to ejaculate into a pretend cup and drink it behind a girl’s back might be funny to some, but I don’t find it at all funny. It was just stupid.
So, a mixed bag overall here. Way too vulgar, especially in the beginning, which took away from the humor- I felt dirty watching a lot of it…disgusted by the constant talk of “pussy” this and “blowjob” that. If one needs to be overly vulgar to be funny, then that person probably isn’t too funny to begin with. If they would have toned it down a bit and made Seth atleast semi-likeable for most of the movie, it would been a much better film.
Seth Rogen and Bill Hader (from the fairly unfunny movie, Hot Rod) play out of control cops who spend the night going insane with another main character, Foggell (or as his fake ID reads: “McLovin”- the 25 yr old organ donor from Hawaii). They were very funny, and this added a nice subplot to the story. It all takes place in one day- mostly during the night…trying to get to a graduation party (the main characters are nerds who finally got an invite, trying to get with their respective ladies)- trying their best to buy the booze for the party to be big heroes and get the girls. The plot, though simple, worked well, and there were many sub-storylines that kept it all going nicely.
In the end, it’s a great movie that went a bit over the line in some places. There’s no need to be super vulgar to be funny. That was never the case before, and I don’t think it’s the case now. Writers and directors can tone down the vulgarity a bit and still have a gem. This was a gem slightly tarnished by some minor flaws.
Democrats Approve of Hate Site Kos

Pajamas Media reports on the yearly kos convention.
As Kos (the despicable thug who approves of murdering innocent contractors in Iraq) himself says in this video- DailyKos, a disgusting hate website, controls the democratic party.
The Democrats are screwing themselves when they attend the conventions of hate sites. The media won’t play this story out tho…they’re too liberal. The liberal dominance in the media will make sure this story gets no play. If Republicans attended a yearly KKK convention, the media would create a firestorm and cover it 24 hours a day.
Hopefully the American people are smarter than most in the media and the Democratic candidates themselves. You can’t attend a hate website’s convention, then claim you can lead this nation. Clinton and Obama are lost souls hell bent in gaining power…their candidacies have little to nothing to do with making anything better or doing things right. If there was any of that present, they would have avoided this convention like a plague.
Shameful.
Russia Officially Insane

Yes, the thug Putin, and other various buffoons from the Russian government are declaring the north pole their own. They sent a small sub to plant a Russian flag on the sea floor at the pole to officially claim it as Russian land.

Ted Stevens’ Home Raided by FBI

Senator Ted Stevens (R- Alaska) is a jerk if you ask me. This pork-loving, big spender should be in a jail cell for fleecing the American taxpayers for so many years. Not sure of all the details of the investigation, but it’s related to bribery (will read more in a bit), but it seems his home (a very large home, from the looks of it) was raided by the FBI today.
Isn’t it about time we bring back some ethics to politics? Was it ever there to begin with?
