Donnie Wahlberg In Plain Site (USA Network) Interview Transcript Added

UPDATE: I must mention, I haven’t watched this episode yet. In fact, I have the series waiting for me, so I haven’t watched any of them yet (so much school work!) Do be sure to check out Donnie in one of my favorite series, BOOMTOWN…the first season of that show is available on DVD. He’s fantastic in it.

I’ve attached the transcript from the chat we had with Donnie Wahlberg who guest starred on tonight’s season 3 premiere of In Plain Sight on USA.

Donnie Wahlberg in IN PLAIN SIGHT on USA

They cut off some of my banter with Donnie, which sucked, as it had to do with the question I asked him…Click the link for the full transcript. Here’s my question:

Moderator: Our next question is from Josh Bozeman, The Bluesite.com. Please go ahead.

J. Bozeman I’ve actually been going through the Boom Town on DVD the first and second season, great work there. I wondered is it hard for you to transition, you do two seasons a show or three seasons here or a movie there, and there are gaps in between it. Is it hard for you to transition between character to character?

D. Wahlberg It depends. It’s always easier if you like the material. If I read a character that just jumps of the page at me, then that usually gets my juices flowing and gets me really excited about wanting to do it. Sometimes I can read a script and just really ideas and idiosyncratic behaviors are just popping in my mind about a character.

But the reality is we work in a business where we’re at the mercy of a lot of outside factors. With Boom Town, I had a great time. I loved going to work every day. I loved my character, I loved the show. I loved the people I worked with. But there’s an audience that has certain demands. There’s a network and sponsors and all these different people who have certain demands. If we can’t meet them, which is really beyond my control, then the show stops.

I think I do a pretty good job of letting go of that which I cannot control in this business. It’s my obligation and responsibility is to bring as much realness to whatever character I play, to be as committed as possible to the project and the character. That’s why I gravitate towards material that I like. If I read a script and I don’t like it or I don’t find something that I think would be fun or challenging in a character, I generally walk away from it. I think giving my all to what I do is really the only thing I can control and what’s what I try to focus on.

It’s easy to change gears and go from character to character if I’m committed and focus. It’s not easy if I don’t care about what I’m doing. It becomes a burden and a drag. So I try not to do that.

Interview: Donnie Wahlberg (Guest Star) In Plain Sight (USA)

I’ll be talking to Donnie Wahlberg today. Wahlberg will guest star on the hit USA Network series, In Plain Sight, which is starting it’s 3rd season March 31. Wahlberg will play a criminal who is ready to give up the life of crime to look out for his teenaged son.

Not sure what I’m going to ask him yet, as I’ve never had a chance to check this series out (felt like after I missed the first season, I was too far behind!), but it should be fun…Will update later with a new post and a transcript of the call.

MORE INFO ON IN PLAIN SIGHT BELOW:

================
IN PLAIN SIGHT, USA Network’s hit original scripted series starring Mary McCormack, will return for season three on its new night, Wednesday, March 31 at 10/9c. This year, showrunner John McNamara (“The Fugitive,” “Eyes”) joins as writer/executive producer, further elevating the show’s narrative drive, production value and design. IN PLAIN SIGHT is shot entirely on location in and around Albuquerque, NM.

IN PLAIN SIGHT was the most watched series on basic cable Sundays in 2009, drawing 2.43 million P25-54, 2.07 million P18-49, 5 million total viewers and 3.72 million households.  IN PLAIN SIGHT debuted as the #1 new series on cable in 2008 and continues its significant ratings role in USA’s success as the #1 cable network. The show stars McCormack as Mary Shannon, a U.S. Marshal working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program (WITSEC) who relocates Federal Witnesses, most of whom fall into three categories: career criminals, whistle-blowers or innocents who had the misfortune of witnessing a crime. They all have one thing in common – someone wants them dead. Mary’s job is to see that doesn’t happen, while at the same time attempting to manage her own dysfunctional family. IN PLAIN SIGHT also stars Frederick Weller, Nichole Hiltz and Paul Ben-Victor.

Returning guest-stars for season three include Lesley Ann Warren as Mary’s mother Jinx, Cristian de la Fuente as Mary’s fiancé Raph and Joshua Malina as Brandi’s boyfriend Peter who she met at an AA meeting.  Emmy winner Allison Janney (“The West Wing,” “Juno”); Oscar, Emmy and Grammy winner Rita Moreno (“Cane,” “The Guardian”), Steven Weber (“Wings,” “Studio 60”), Tess Harper (“No Country for Old Men,” “Breaking Bad”), Josh Cooke (“Committed,” “Four Kings”) and Donnie Wahlberg (“Boomtown,” “The Sixth Sense”) have also been cast to guest star.

This season kicks off in dramatic fashion as Mary (McCormack) and Marshall (Weller) search for the person who nearly killed Mary in the season two cliffhanger. We will also flashback to when Mary first joined WITSEC after a break-in threatens the security of the first witness she and Marshall handled together, see the struggle of a former thief as he tries to give up crime for the sake of his teenage son, and experience a witness who has been in a coma for three years suddenly awake to find he is the only eyewitness who can put a prolific weapons trafficker behind bars. In addition, when a hardened bank robber who’s been in WITSEC in prison for decades is finally paroled, it falls to Mary to help him acclimate to life on the outside and keep him from falling back into a life of crime. Meanwhile, when one of Mary’s other witnesses becomes the victim of a revenge plot, Marshall steps in to help out — only to find himself in a predicament when the witness prefers him to Mary. On the personal front, Mary and Raph (de la Fuente) continue to plan their wedding as Jinx (Warren) searches for a purpose in her life and Brandi (Hiltz) begins to act suspiciously, forcing Mary to question whether her sister is up to her old tricks.

On another creative front, two-time Grammy winner Liz Phair (“90210,” “Swingtown”) brings a whole new artistic element to an already strong creative team as the hit show’s music composer. The singer/songwriter’s debut album, Exile in Guyville, was enthusiastically praised upon its 1993 release. Phair went on to release multiple award-winning albums including whitechocolatespaceegg, Whip-smart and the self-titled Liz Phair.

IN PLAIN SIGHT is from Universal Cable Productions.

IN PLAIN SIGHT’s online extension will continue to engage and delight fans, by taking them further than ever before into the life and world of a US Marshal and the WITSEC witness protection program through new elements such as a fake back-story generator and the US Marshal interactive office experience. This season, fan-favorite “Marshall’s Minutiae” is back with all new trivia questions and new abilities to find out obscure Marshall facts straight from the Facebook fan-page. Additionally, fans should brush up on their US Marshal skills for the return of IN PLAIN SIGHT Academy with all new challenges and levels of play. This season the action isn’t just on the screen, but comes alive online as well.

911/Dispatch Calls Released Shows No Race Mention in Prof Gates Arrest

As suspected by any rational, sane human- the woman who called 911 to report, what looked to be a possible burglary at the home of Professor Henry Louis Gates, never mentioned anything about the two men barging in being “black.” She did mention, when asked about the men, that one MAY have looked hispanic, but that’s all. There’s not a shred of evidence to think race played any role in sending police to investigate.

Listen to the 911 call here:

http://tiny.cc/qQ7wv

Also released was the police dispatch conversation. You can clearly hear race is never mentioned in the conversations between police and dispatchers, and that the officer on scene mentioned that the man who owns the house (Gates) was “not cooperative.”

Listen to that audio here:

It was obvious from the start that Gates, a man who has made his career obsessing over race, was never a target of any racial profiling, and there was never a shred of evidence to suggest racism on part of any of the officers involved, dispatch, or anyone else BESIDES Professor Gates himself.

Police investigated a possible crime that was called in through 911, they ran into instant resistance from a man filled with anger at whites, and they told him to calm down. When he refused to calm down (all officers involved, including a black officer himself) back the account that Gates was ballistic and refused to calm himself), they arrested him, took him down, booked him, and let him go. Charges were dropped, and that should have been it. Gates, however, like other race hustlers (Jackson and Sharpton, and even Obama’s own spiritual mentor, Rev Jeremiah Wright), turned it instantly into a racial issue, and the president stupidly followed suit by attacking police.

This story is finished, Gates needs to publicly apologize. If he refuses, he needs to immediately resign his post at Harvard University. President Obama needs to finally make a public apology to Officer Crowley and the entire Cambridge Police Department. He needs to admit he acted stupidly and move on. He also needs to stop pushing his way into issues of race altogether, as his own past sins of being a part of a virulently anti-white church for 20 years renders him ineligible to even speak to the subject.

Blowback Against Obama for His Attack on Cambridge Police

Beautiful. I have a feeling America is waking up to the radical that is Barack Obama. His offensive statements attacking the Cambridge officers who arrested Henry Louis Gates as acting “stupidly” in this matter needed a swift and loud response.

Racial demagogues like Gates and Obama (who, as you will recall, spent 20 years in a radical, racist, anti-american church) need to get off the national stage now, and they need to stay off for good.

Henry Louis Gates is What’s Wrong with America, and We All Need to Shun Him

Dear God, America has gone mad.

Henry Louis Gates

Henry Louis Gates is a race-obsessed piece of garbage. He does an “interview” with his daughter that was posted to The Daily Beast. It seems from both questions and answers that daughter is just as messed up as daddy. Two proud black Americans obsessed with race, blaming every problem on their skin tone, creating bogeymen around every corner. It’s enough to make you want to puke.

Message to Gates: From this point out, when your neighbor calls Cambridge police and says that someone looks to be breaking into your home, the police will refuse to answer the call. They will refuse to even show up to see what the problem is. They will refuse to ask the person, who admittedly tried to break in through a broken front door (as you admit you did), if they are the rightful occupant of the home. They will then allow said person, no matter who he is, to steal all the contents of your home.

What else could an officer do, when an idiot like you claims racism when there’s no racism involved here whatsoever.

You’re both idiots. Congratulations. You are what’s wrong with America.

Pres Obama Does Women in muslim World Disservice with Speech

Obama and other liberal “progressives” (anything goes morality is “progressive” apparently) made a fool of himself today in Cairo with his sometimes ridiculous and sometimes downright offensive speech there. Here is a section I take umbrage with:

“The U.S. government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab, and to punish those who would deny it.”

Yes, we know that women in islam are second class citizens. The koran itself states that women are lesser than men. Thank goodness they have the “right” to be second class and allow men to dominate them like this.

“I reject the view of some in the West that a woman who chooses to cover her hair is somehow less equal, but I do believe that a woman who is denied an education is denied equality. And it is no coincidence that countries where women are well-educated are far more likely to be prosperous.”

Huh? Why is it okay to support some arbitrary misogynist rule to cover your head and face because it’s a religious idea, but it’s not okay to support the religious idea of denying women education? Why is one somehow okay but not the other? This is the why liberals are nancies. They refuse to take a firm ideological stand on anything…for fear of not having every single person and every single thing be “equal,” no matter how little right something has of ever being “equal” to logical and reasonable traditions.

“Now let me be clear: issues of women’s equality are by no means simply an issue for Islam. In Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia, we have seen Muslim-majority countries elect a woman to lead. Meanwhile, the struggle for women’s equality continues in many aspects of American life, and in countries around the world.”

Does it? Women in the US ARE equal. You just finished a campaign that included a woman in the number 2 spot of the dem nomination! Enough of this bullshit that women are still fighting for equality in the US, it’s just not true, and to compare the US to muslim-majority nations where women are raped, beaten, and stoned to death for merely not having a penis, is absurd and offensive.

“Our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons, and our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity – men and women – to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal, and I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles. But it should be their choice. That is why the United States will partner with any Muslim-majority country to support expanded literacy for girls, and to help young women pursue employment through micro-financing that helps people live their dreams.”

Pipe dream. There’s no evidence that most muslim-majority nations hold anything but extreme contempt for their mothers and daughters, so let’s stop with the idiotic platitudes about how islam is so great and so wonderful, and by-golly it’s a great place for women to succeed.

Obama and most other progressives are wimps. You’ll never change the horrible situation for most women in the muslim world unless you man up, grow a pair, and start being honest. Not all religions are equal, and not all religious demands are equal. Just as not all nations are equal. Don’t you dare compare this land of freedom to any muslim-dominated nation, Mr. President, and don’t dare try to fool anyone into thinking islam is anything but a big bag of suck for women of all ages. It’s stupid, it’s pointless, and it’s just the pattern of liberal nonsense that never makes any true progress. The rights of women is an issue that needs to see progress in the muslim world. Unfortunately, when you follow a religion started by a mass murdering madman, that progress is sort of hard to come by. Obama would be wise to stand up and say so.

UPDATE: Pundette over at HotAir.com notices the absurd nature of Obama’s comments as well.
